![]() Through tough therapy he was able to retrain it and the 2000 era of Megadeth continued strong with albums such as 2004’s The System Has Failed, 2013’s Super Collider, and most recently, the aforementioned Dystopia. For example, during the brief break up in the early 2000s, Mustaine suffered an injury to his nerves that caused radial damage to his left arm, and was rendered unable to play guitar for a bit. Ironically, with this band, it seems that out of disaster new positives are constantly forming. Dave Mustaine and friends are still going strong. Thirty-five years is a long time, and in that time Megadeth has managed to put out 15 intricately crafted Thrash albums despite member changes, addiction, as well as catastrophes. From here it goes on a long journey of well-known and fan-favorite Megadeth cuts that paint a vivid picture of the band’s story. A fitting way to celebrate 35 years of the band, starting the trip down memory lane, the first track is “Rattlehead,” named after their longtime trusted mascot and coming from the 1985 album Killing Is My Business… and Business Is Good! where it all began. An exciting piece of news for fans, in the meantime they are celebrating their 35th anniversary with a 35-track remastered greatest hits album Warheads On Foreheads, out on Friday, March 22nd via UMe Recordings.Īvailable as 3-CD and 4-LP editions, Dave Mustaine hand-picked the collection of songs that span the bands’ entire career, ending with the masterpiece title-track from their 2016 album Dystopia. However - the RiP picture disc is the Mustaine mix so just an FYI.Iconic Thrash Metal giants Megadeth are gearing up for another brand new album within the coming year. It's definitely remastered but all that questionable vocal stuff that happened on the remix are absent on the Capitol Vaults reissue. However - the kicker in all this is that one would assume that 'Rust in Peace' would also be the Mustaine remix. I believe 'Peace Sells' and 'So Far' Mustaine mixes are an improvement so that's all good imo. The picture discs ARE the Mustaine mixes. The missing picture disc was 'Rust' so I found that too just to be complete. So I also bought a lot of picture discs (UMe) that included 'Countdown' and 'Youthanasia' but also had 'Peace Sells' and 'So Far.". And plus the hype stickers say 'Faithfully Restored' - so why not? I have also been after 'Countdown' and 'Youthanasia' but the only way to get them on vinyl is on picture disc (without taking out loans). I grabbed them all the while forgetting about the Mustaine remixes. I recently saw the Megadeth reissues from Capitol 'Vaults' for 'Peace Sells', 'So Far.' and 'Rust in Peace'. It's just my new thing now for about a year. Fast forward to now - which is that I don't listen to anything unless it's on vinyl. They were boomier in the bottom end but that's all I could recall. However - I recall none of the other remixes stood out as problematic. For me - it ruined Rust in Piece the way I was accustomed to hearing it. There were re-recorded vocals and then alternate takes used for some things. That said - when Mustaine remixed the entire catalog I was very put off by Rust in Piece. I have all the original Megadeth digitally and from way back in days of tapes I remember Megadeth always sounding a certain way. Thought I'd share something I found around recent Megadeth vinyl.
